Recycle BC Infinity Mirror Box

Project Overview

Recycle BC, aiming to raise public awareness about recycling various types of plastics, commissioned a large, 5-panel installation for use at events. This installation, created in collaboration with Creative Others, was designed to be both educational and engaging.

The design consisted of three wooden panels, each with cutout holes corresponding to three different types of plastic recyclables. These holes allowed the public to participate actively by discarding appropriate plastic items. To enhance engagement, I developed three infinity mirror LED boxes for these cutouts. Featuring two-way mirrors, LEDs, and plastic graphics, these boxes created captivating, seemingly endless reflections. This aspect of the installation drew significant attention, with many attendees taking pictures and interacting with the boxes.

Additionally, the installation included a map of Vancouver highlighting recycling locations. Situated beside the recycling stations, this map used LEDs to indicate different types of recycling facilities: blue for Recycle BC Depots and green for London Drugs dropoff locations.
