Translink Carnival Games
Project Overview
To engage with the general public and celebrate Car Free Day, Translink commissioned the creation of an interactive carnival game of bean bag toss, conceptualized and executed in partnership with Creative Others. The project featured a creative bean bag toss game using a repurposed car hood, integrating fun and sustainability. The car hood, punctured with holes for the game, was set on a wooden frame and illuminated with programmable RGB LEDs, adding an engaging visual element. Each hole represented different modes of transportation, ranging from bus, skateboard, walking, to driving.
In addition to the main game, the wooden frame was artistically enhanced with channels cut by a CNC machine. These channels housed flexible LED neon tubing, artistically representing the Skytrain system. The installation was designed to be both visually striking and interactive, with a microcontroller programming the lights in a vibrant, carnival-inspired sequence. Adding to the attraction were bluetooth speakers at the base, designed to draw the attention of passersby.
