Introducing Snippy

Forget Amazon Astro, Vector, and even the trusty Roomba. Snippy is a new robotic home assistant taking on Big Tech with a humble pair of scissors.

In a short product demo video, with all the cliché trappings of an over-hyped startup, Snippy is unveiled to the world. Snippy promises to alleviate you from the mundane day-to-day problems that you didn’t know you wanted a solution to.

Are you frustrated by the cruel irony of scissors that are packaged in an impossibly tough plastic case? Snippy can help open that!

Are you disappointed in the empty promises of Theranos? Don’t worry, the engineers behind Snippy have implemented instantaneous blood sample analysis with a gentle finger prick using Snippy’s 3-inch stainless steel blades.

Taking Off The Rose-Colored Glasses

This satirical product launch draws inspiration from the absurd initial valuations of fundamentally flawed tech startups like Juicero, Kickstarter scams built on unrealistic technology, and the corporate greed that locks users into endless subscription models, compromises their online privacy, and denies their right to repair.

References to these critiques are littered throughout videos but a few of my personal pet peeves include the ridiculous size of shipping boxes used by Amazon @[2:11], and the overhyped humanization of artificial intelligence @[1:04].

As researched extensively by the YouTuber Coffeezilla, there has been a recent explosion in influencer-led crypto and NFT “pump and dump” scams as well as the planned adoption of this technology by established businesses. So why shouldn’t Snippy also jump on this profit-driven house of cards? View the collection of official Snippy NFT artwork on OpenSea right now*.

*The NFTs listed on OpenSea are not for sale. That would be ironically hypocritical of my own commentary. Feel free to view them, and if you really love them… just take a screenshot. I won’t accept your crypto.
